Tips For Great Senior Photos

Note: Blemishes on the face and skin never show on the finished portraits by Toy Brothers. Our modern retouching methods completely remove all unwanted blemishes. We recommend that freckles be softened, but not removed. There is no additional charge for this service.

  • Glasses distort the size and shape of your face. Our lights may reflect into your lenses. Tinted glasses change the color of your eyes and they also darken severely under photographic lighting.
  • We recommend that you borrow (and return promptly) a pair of frames from your Eye Doctor. We cannot be responsible for your final portraits if you neglect to borrow frames without lenses. Your portraits will look much more pleasing if you do this small thing.

When Do You Get To See Your Pictures?

  • All studio portraits will be ready for your examination and to take home in just 24 hours! There is no obligation to purchase any portraits. You may wish to sign out the previews for up to 10 days to take home and decide your portrait order. A small security deposit is required to do this. This deposit will be credited to any order or refunded if previews are returned within 10 days. We will be happy to schedule a time for you to return them that will be convenient for you.

Pre-Sitting Suggestions

  • For Guys and Gals
    • Don't forget to wear you class rings, varsity jackets, sports equipment, hobbies, etc. Be creative. Just about anything goes.
  • For the Gals Only
    • Simplicity is always desirable in portraiture. This applies to cosmetics, jewelry, hair, and dress.
    • You may bring several changes with you for assistance. Plain clothing medium to dark in color with becoming neckline and long sleeves as found in sweaters, blouses, dresses, and pantsuits are recommended. Please, no sleeveless blouses. They tend to make your upper arms and shoulders look heavy. Avoid contrasting bright stripes and colors which compete for attention with your face.
    • Cosmetics should be used sparingly. The lips should look natural and pinkish. If you normally wear makeup, this can help your portrait providing it is not overdone. It is better to use too little than too much. Avoid using dark shades of lipstick, excessive use of blush, and lighter shades of makeup under the eyes.
    • Hair styling calls for particular attention. For those of you who normally wear bangs, please make sure that your eyebrows are not covered. You will be more satisfied with a portrait which portrays your hair in its most attractive, time-tested arrangement. Do not experiment with a new hairstyle.
  • For the Guys Only
    • Colored shirts with ties that match or harmonize with suit or sports coat make an excellent choice of clothing. The plain shirts look great in the casual poses.
    • Be sure you shave prior to your sitting. Sideburns should be neatly trimmed. We cannot remove hair from your face, and a clean-shaven face will produce the best skin tones.
